Whilst digging through my Billany records I came accross this:
"George Ellis Rusling" born c.1842, Hull. On the 9th Sep 1857 he signed an Ordinary Apprentice's Indenture for training as a Seaman with Dennis Pepper of Selby Yorkshire. The apprenticeship was for a term of 5 years with a salary (wage) of £40:00 per year.

The document was signed by George Ellis Rusling and Dennis Pepper (Master).
I have copies of the original Board of Trade (May1855)documents date stamped Department of Marine at Hull 11 September 1857 clearly showing Signatures to same.>
The document carries an original reference DX/101/2b the original record being held by the Bymor? Jones Libray at Hull University archives@acs.hull.ac.uk <mailto:archives@acs.hull.ac.uk>
