Journal of Jacques FLOURNOY Posted by: Nora Tocus, Date: September 04, 1999
At the library I recently found a 1994 book published in Geneva I had not seen before, I believe a recent acquisition: Jacques Flournoy, Journal 1675-1692, Ed. Olivier Fatio (in French). The introduction gives much family information new to me. My previous information was that the Geneva Flournoys worked as lapidaries and goldsmiths. It seems that while some did, most were involved (as were many Huguenot refugees) in the textile and silk industries. Also, several (including Jacques) studied theology and were ordained as ministers. There is quite a lot of family history in this scholarly and thoroughly documented and annotated book, which will be of research interest to those working on FLOURNOY. ISBN # is 2-600-00014-3; publisher is Association Suisse pour l'Histoire du Refuge Huguenot, in Bern. PS: To place him, this is the Jacques b 24 January 1645, son of Gideon and great-grandson of Laurent who emigrated to Geneva in 1572.
Jacques married Judith PUERARI.
