William is listed as William E. Jr. on the 1910 Federal Census.

He was 2nd lieutenant in the Texas 41st Infantry, 14th Division. See
reference 4 below.

A letter from Lois E. Edwards, daughter of William Edward Edwards,
written to Robert Young, her father's cousin in Knoxville, Knox County,
Illinois, dated Thanksgiving Day November 28, 1918, tells that Lieut W.
E. Edwards, Jr. is dead. He was seriously injured in an automobile
accident at Camp Buster near Battle Creek, Michigan, where he was
instructor on Tuesday night and died 24 hours later of injuries
received. He had a fractured skull, crushed leg, and internal injuries,
the last causing his death. He was referred to by the name of Ward. He
had intended to stop in Galesburg and Knoxville in Knox County, Illinois,
to see his relatives on his way home to Texas. His family was all torn
up over the death.

Edwards, daughter of William Edward Edwards, written to Robert Young, her
father's cousin in Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois, dated Thanksgiving
Day November 28, 1918, tells that Lieut W. E. Edwards, Jr. is dead. (4)
Telecon with Edwards Library in Henrietta, Clay County, TX, on March 12,
2003 in which the cemetery records were checked for Henrietta Hope
Cemetery in Henrietta, Clay County, Texas.
