General Notes:
May was seven years old when her family moved from Adams County, Iowa, to Marion County, Iowa. She lived in Marion County in or near Knoxville, the rest of her life. She belonged to the Methodist Church in Knoxville from her early youth on and held memberships in the Rebekah Lodge and the D.U.V. Her obituary said she married on the 28th but her marriage record at the county courthouse recorded the 27th. She made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Price and their daughter, Joan, later in her life. Her cousin was Fred Stone, a well-known Hollywood actor.
No children. From 1916, she raised, Mildred Betterton (married Carroll Price), daughter of Clara's sister Lydia's son Marshall.
She had been in poor health for several years but dropped to the floor after complaining of feeling faint upon arrival at a friend's house. Her funeral was at Bybee & Davis Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. W. J. Fowler, of Sigourney, a former pastor of the Knoxville Methodist Church and a cousin of May. Marion Rebekah Lodge No. 70 helped with the cemetery service. Buried at Graceland Cemetry, Knoxville, Iowa.
Lucille Miers Webster accompanied her father, Ancil Miers to an auction at the farm of "Aunt May" after she died.
Jacob Creager had no children of his own or they died young, so on Nov. 17, 1887, his heirs were from his sister's, Lydia Miers, children. Those heirs are all grand-nephews and nieces of Jacob: (reference 2): 11. May Mires, age 14, same as above

(4) Obituary for May (Miers) Anderson (Clara May) in the newspaper, The Express, Knoxville, Iowa, Thrusday, February 8, 1940. May was a sister to Joseph Freeman Miers.
