bullet  General Notes:

Velta Kunkel, Joseph Miers' daughter, said that either Edith or Mary
Nancy had a second marriage. It looks like Edith had the second
marriage. In the second marriage, she had a girl, Norma who married
Claude Comer. Norma and Claude had two children, George and a girl.

Mary Nan (used Nan) is buried in the cemetry north of Knoxville, Iowa.
Lois Peters provided data that Nan is short for Nancy.

In the1880 Federal census for Jasper Township, Adams County, Iowa, Mary

York and her mother was born in Ohio. Her husband, Arthur Gay was age
28, a farmer, born in Pennsylvania, his father was born in Pennsylvania
and his mother was born in Delaware. Living in their household, were two
of their children, Nellie, age 2 and Charles, age 8 months, both born in
Iowa. Also living with them was Arthur's brother, Elmer, age30, single,
born in Pennsylvania, and working on the farm.
