bullet  General Notes:

The Youngs moved from Warren County, Ohio, to Knox County, Illinois, in
October 1844.
Mary and Robert had a farm near Knoxville, Persifer Township, Illinois,
and had a considerable fortune.

Mary and Robert had seven children. Three had died by the time she died.
The children living when Mary died were: Edward Johnston Young of
Galesburg, Ill, Hannah E. Collins, John Rusling Young (see reference
below from Margaret Young and also reference 5, obituary) and Robert L.
Young, all of Persifer Township, Knox County, near Galesburg, Illinois.
Probably all farmers.

Mary moved to Knox County, Illinois, on Oct. 7, 1844. On March 10,1845,
she moved to Persifer Twp.
She joined the Methodist Church at age 11 years.
Mary's granddaughter, Mamie (Possibly Mary was her name per Margaret
Young, see below reference), married a druggist named Huff and lived in
Galesburg, Illinois.

Robert Young was 59, born in Ohio, a farmer whose father was born in
Germany and his mother was born in New Jersey, per the 1880 Federal
Census. Living in his household in 1880, was his wife Mary F. Young, age
54, born in Ohio, keeping house, her father was born in New Jersey, and
her mother was born in England. Living in their household was his son
Robert L. Young, age 16, a farmer, and born in Illinois. His parents
were listed as both born in Ohio. Also, living there was a nephew Albert
Young, single, age 22, born in Ohio and working as a farm hand. Albert's
parents were both born in Ohio. Emma B. Andrew was living in the
household, 18 years old, single, born in Illinois, attending school, and
her father was born in Ohio and her mother was in Virginia.

Mary and Robert are buried in Knoxville, Knox Co., Illinois, beside
Hannah and Edward Johnston. Mary's funeral was held at Bethel Chaped
four miles east of Knoxville, Illinois.
Mary's obituary, reference 5 below, lists her marriage year a 1842.
However, per a hand written document by her husband, the year is 1843,
see reference 2 below.

(2) Data about Hannah Fowler Rusling and Edward Campbell Johnston's
daughter, Mary Fowler Johnston who married Robert Young, and Mary and
Robert's descendants was provided by Mary Fowler Johnston Young's
great-great granddaughter, Margaret Laurene Young Rice. One document
Margaret has is a hand written Family Record which lists, among other
data, Mary Fowler Johnston and Robert Young's marriage date and place.
(3) Received by Electronic Mail (E-mail) on July 17, 1999, from Margaret
Young Rice: Mary and Robert's great-granddaughter, Mary did not have a
son named Joseph Rusling Young. They did have a son named John Rusling
Young as listed in The Rusling Family book. The Rusling Family book may
have been in error unless he went by both names, which sometimes
happens. Margaret also thinks that Mamie's name was Mary. Lucille
Miers Webster will accept Margaret Young's findings. (4) Data gathered
