Robert Carrington Anderson, b. at "Springfield," Prince Edward Co., Va., July 12, 1817; d.
at Massanetta Manse, Rockbridge Co., Va., Oct. 10, 1906, buried at Cross Keys, Rockbridge Co., Va. He was educated by private tutors and at Hampden-Sidney College (graduated with second honor, 1836); post-graduate work at the Univ. of Va., 1836-1838; trustee of Hampden-Sidney College for sixty years. He mar. (I), about 1838 Fannie Parke Poindexter (d. 1874), dau. of Parke Poindexter of Chesterfield Co., Va., and Elizabeth Archer, his wife (she was dau. of Judge Archer of Petersburg, Va.); he mar. (II) in 1877, Mary Batt of Petersburg, Va., dau. of Judge Batt.

Robert married Fannie Parke POINDEXTER in 1838.
