Miriam never married, was well-educated, and very well traveled. She
taught at Knox College. Margaret Young Rice's grandmother told her that
Hortense and Miriam were were too particular to get married. Miriam and
Hortense were formidable women and wonderful. Margaret Young Rice puts
flowers on her grave every year.
